The pictures are here! Sorry everybody, I had summer school finals and my family from Arizona was visiting but the blog will continue as scheduled from here on. Last we left off, we had just gotten through the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest (awesome!). You can check out that post here! We spent the night in Flagstaff, but the blog for that will come later because we came back to spend more time there later in the trip. After a delicious breakfast provided by Drury Inn, we headed south to Pheonix!
The drive down is beautiful and dramatic on the I-17 South. There is a nice half way-ish rest stop called Sunset Point where there are spectacular views, picnic areas, and bathrooms. It’s a great place to just chill out, relax, and have a picnic lunch before getting into the hub of the city. The next stop was my Grandma’s house! It was like stepping back into time as a 9-year-old. I will admit, though, there were many parts on the way to her house that I didn’t recognize due to the area growing out. Anyways, the next few blogs will be about Pheonix and the area I grew up in as well as a restaurant review. By the way, Grandma’s don’t change much in their houses in decor and such…
Next time, on Expedition: Runaway, we go to the Wildlife World Zoo where I do battle with a ferocious Black Jaguar (well kinda…)!
Travel well,
Steven Chavez
