After eating my hotel breakfast yesterday, we hit the road again and drove through the sea of grass known as the Great Plains.  I have always loved the wide open spaces and I love to imagine what it would be like to just get on a horse and ride forever.  Soon enough we got to the New Mexico border and stopped to check out some of the cool historical stuff at the welcome center.

Only Texas would have waffles of Texas!

I tried to watch a downloaded movie on my laptop but for some reason my eyes kept getting drawn to the plains.  It feels so natural and free there, almost as if it is the perfect point where earth and sky meet in a never ending contrast of blue and earth tones.  Don’t think I could live there permanently but the grasslands would be a cool place to spend a few weeks on horseback!  I may have to revisit that idea in the future.

An ocean of grass.  Wish I could’ve spent more time there.

I am now currently in Flagstaff, Arizona and I will have a post or two coming soon about my trip through the Painted Desert and the Petrified forest and also about the desert drive between Albuquerque, New Mexico and Holbrook, Arizona which was awesome!

Stay safe and travel well,
